We know we've let our minimal-minded visitors down a bit lately. Thing is that we concider minimal to be a bit for wintertime and dark, rainy days. We're not saying you can't enjoy it during the summer (Voltt loves summer can back me up on that), but when wintertime hits, minimal is just the way to go and summer has got its own thing goin on. So we'll provide you your monthly minimal fix but we gotta keep things fresh here on awkwardpirates.

28 min - 3 channels - Its gettin kinda hectic
38 min = Mathias Kaden - Rhytma
44 min - Lee Curtiss - 3 Fingers

Fridaynight electro

Ah yes, FINALLY weekend is around the corner and what a weekend it will be.

Flexbar is hosting another 'WE LOVE' party! Now.. we haven't actually been to one of these welove parties before but they come highly recommended by the guys over at Apollokiddz. After experiencing their 'break it down' party hosted by Palmsout we're sure this party won't go down bad either.
Lineup:
The walk & Rogerseventytwo
Danger
Beesmunt Soundsystem
Check AMSTEREO for more info.

To get you in your weekend-party mood we brought along some tunes for ye:

First is the track we requested a while back. It was hosted in the Februari Crookers mix we posted earlier and this was our favourite bit: Boy 8 Bit - Wolfen. Don't know if it's actually been released yet.

Second is a track we found sitting in our inbox. It's done by Sebastian: Motor (distort edit). The Ed banger label is known for setting the bar high when it comes to electro nowadays and Sebastian managed to nudge it up a tiny bit higher. Cant wait for the official release.

Extra:
This week we recieved word from a guy we quite honestly never had heard of before (no offense). We know that his name is Leroysevenfive and that he is part of the 'Tuff Wheelz' Duo but he didn't give us a helluvalot more info. He sent some of his work and as some of you know; we try to give newcommers a chance.

Juvelen - They don't love you (Sevenfive remix)
FredZeFred - Not another trip (Sevenfive remix)

Don't be hatin on our random irrelevant pictures.

Berlin knows how to party.

Watergate Berlin definitly knows how to dress a club. Bit similar to Amsterdams Jimmy Woo.
Dont put your volume up to high, the soundquality isn't that great.

Italian electricity and English fidget

We're starting with 2 of the best things to come from Italy:

This one isn't what you'd call new and we waited with posting it because we do support these guys and we figured it was better if we weren't the first ones to post it. So with a bit of delay:

Second is a track by 2 guys who just can do no wrong in my eyes. Look them up on youtube and you'll be amazed by their live performances. Go see them if they're in a continent near you, absolutely worth it.

And to top it off:
Hijack released this bootleg with the intention it would be spread around all the worthy blogspots out there, nice turn of events huh?
Hijack - Out there. Download HERE

If you have a track you'd also like to get posted please email one of us and we'll be sure to give it a listen.

We are all prostitutes

Crookers have finally come up with a video for their 'We're all prostitutes' remix. Now, and this is just my opinion, I feel that the video doesn't quite live up to the expectations you'd have after listening to the track without any visualisations. For some reason I expected a completely hyped up videoclip and even though this track isnt your everyday-britney-spears-videoclip it doesn't really go off where you'd expect it. Not to mention that they were obviously under the impression only hippies and environmentalists were going to watch this video.

Minilogue - Hitchhikers Choice

New York fidget bassline jackin’ house imprint Crux Records have been steadily producing some fine twisted sounds for a while now and this continues with the latest from Bryan Cox.

Masked men

Italys next best thing has got to be the up and comming producing duo Bloody Beetroots. They've already been wildly covered by most blogs and been heard by most of the underground scene and we're going to keep the hype going.

They make brilliant electro beats and have already performed with the likes of crookers, steve aoki, mstrkrft, la riots, d.i.m, martin solveig, justice and the list keeps going on and on. Their myspace is the second most visited italian myspace and for some reason they always perform with masks on.

Enough talk.. here's some music:

The bloody beetroots - We Are From Venice (La Serenissima)

Martin Solveig - C'est La vie (The bloody beetroots remix)

Keeping you on your toes.

As you might have noticed we keep switching it up here on awkwardpirates. Different styles for every mood we're in. Right now that's minimal.

Marc Houle - Techno Vocals is a track I was looking for, for quite some time actually. Love them techno vocals!

Jesper Dahlback - No Boarding (original mix) is from his I hate flying EP' which is definitly worth buying.

Style of eye; music you just can't go wrong with.

Spring

We're kicking off with a remix done by Hugg & Pepp. Last year's summer hit has got to be sebastien leger's Disco Volante. What better way to get in that summer mood then to listen to a slightly altered version of that feel-good track
Ida Engberg - Disco Volante (Hugg & Pepp remix)

Great remix of Les Djinns
Djuma soundsystem - Les Djinns (Trentemoller remix) (Classic)

This one doesnt really go well with the other 2 tracks but it could very well be played at a summer festival so I might aswell put it up.
Bart B more - In My Neighbourhood (Original Mix)

Tell us what you think/feel/hear/see/smell/whatever and feel free to be a critic.

Sunday 2 March 2008

For those who missed it.

Even if you're not into this sort of musis you might enjoy the creativity in these videos.
